Bethesda Home

Bethesda Home

First NGO selected for the 2019-2020 campaign to participate in the August/October 2019 quarter

Bethesda Home is a non-profit institution that cares for 30 children and adolescents, both boys and girls, ranging from 9 to 21 years old. These are children and teens who are orphaned, abandoned, or have incarcerated parents. The home provides shelter and education with the help of volunteers and institutions that contribute and support them with basic necessities, cash, and other donations.

As part of its 2019-2020 “Unidos Sumamos” Social Responsibility program, CIRSA Dominicana raised RD$91,716.94 in the first quarter (August/Oct. 2019). This amount was collected from the TITOS that customers deposited in the solidarity boxes at the Santo Domingo and Santiago CASINOS. The donation was presented by Wendelyn Issa, Commercial and Marketing Director; Cindia Cruz, the Human Resources collaborator who nominated the cause; and Raysa Astacio, Commercial Manager.

In this second stage of Unidos Sumamos, we decided to make the delivery to the foundation in person to see and experience the situation of these underprivileged children firsthand. We were deeply moved and struck by hearing about and seeing their primary needs. This experience showed us that there is still much to be done. Maria, the head of the center, expressed her gratitude and blessings to the entire team that made this collection possible. She noted that now more than ever, as the Christmas season approaches, they need these types of donations. The funds raised will be used to stock up on food and to purchase an appliance needed for refrigeration. These are very difficult times, and God worked for the good!
